Application: CBN Heavy Duty Grinding using neat oil.
This global company produces a large range of automotive engine valves for most engine manufacturers.
The company use heavy duty CBN grinding processes, using neat oil, and had installed external Scrubber oil mist filtration systems, which were connected by ducting to the CBN grinding lines.
Vented outside, the low efficiency of the existing oil mist systems resulted in environmental problems with the vented oil mist descending on local nature reserves. In addition, the facility itself suffered from entwined, oil mist-laden air throughout.
Scandfilter engineers were approached to provide a lasting solution to resolve these problems. After several site visits and installing a standard ScandMist MA 350 R unit, which was attached to several CBN grinders, Scandfilter engineers had eradicated the oil mist problems from both inside and outside of the facility.
Standard ScandMist MA 350 R units, assisted by a Scandfilter prefilter, are now attached to several CBN grinding machines, with exceptional results:
ScandMist inlet reading: 200 – 250 mg/m³
ScandMist discharge reading: 0.000 – 0.010 mg/m³
By considerably reducing the strain on the outside Scrubber filtration system, the ScandMist units have removed the environmental impact and also improved the atmosphere inside the facility - stripping the oil mist from the air and returning it to the oil reservoirs, instead of emitting this oil outside.
